Food lovers are spoilt for choice in Sheffield and you can't
stray far before encountering one of the city's many excellent restaurants,
bistros and take-aways.
For curry fans, Nirmals on Glossop Road is a great
- though somewhat pricey - place to sample real Indian cuisine,
and a cheaper but by no means less tasty alternative is The
Mangla on Spital Hill. Everest in Woodseats
is a popular choice and students and cheapskates will appreciate
the low price fare served up at Balti King, which
has established a reputation as an obligatory after-pub ritual.
For Chinese or Cantonese food, check out the Golden Dragon
on Matilda Street, Candytown, Tin Po Dragon
and Golden Lee on London Road and New
Zing Vaa on Ecclesall road. Feed the family for a week
at the Vietnamese Noodle Bar, also on London Road,
where the portions are huge and inexpensive.
If it's a taste of the Mediterranean that you crave, Casablanca
on Regents Terrace has a great atmosphere and its pizzas recieve
rave reviews, while K-Pasa on Glossop Road is a
good place for large groups or work parties. Mama's and
Leonies is a vibrant city centre Italian and fun can be
had at Viva Latino on London Road, where the food
is a mixture of Italian and Mexican and regular entertainment will
set your night off with a swing.
This is only a small indication of what Sheffield has to offer
in the way of food. A comprehensive guide to the city's eateries
can be found at Sheffield
Restaurant Guide.
